Internships - Scientific training with real world impact...
Imagine performing research at a leading global pharmaceutical corporation while gaining practical experience and contributing to the search for new disease therapies. Through the scientific intern program at the Novartis Institutes for BioMedical Research (NIBR), your contribution to the search for new disease therapies can begin before you graduate. Our program is designed to introduce talented students to drug discovery and to train them in experimental work in this area.

United States
As an Intern, you will have a chance to gain experience in designing and executing experiments; analyze the data that you produce, and learn new experimental protocols and techniques. Additional activities may include journal clubs, weekly seminars, team meetings, a poster presentation, and social outings.
The Scientific Summer Internship Program (June - August 2013) is a paid, 40-hour per week program for students enrolled at an accredited U.S. university. Interns work on their own project with the guidance of a NIBR scientist. NIBR's research covers many disease, science, and technology areas that allow us to closely match your specific interests with one of our labs.
Eligibility: Applicants must have completed their sophomore year in college or university but not have graduated from a Master's degree program prior to the start of the internship. Ph.D. and M.D. students are not eligible for this program. Applicants must attend university in a U.S. state or territory and be eligible to work in the United States.
Inclusion of the broadest slate of talent is very important to us.
This includes, among others, talented individuals who are currently underserved in the sciences. Examples include first-generation college students, socioeconomically disadvantaged students, individuals with learning differences, and underrepresented minorities.
Application Deadline: December 28th, 2012 for most locations. See specific posting for exact dates. Early application is encouraged as space is limited.
Pay: The internship is a paid, full-time, 40-hour per week position.
Housing and Travel: In addition to our competitive hourly pay rates, financial support for housing and travel will be available in some locations based on the Company's non-discriminatory assessment of the applicant's financial need. See specific job postings for details and be sure to complete the Financial Assistance Application within the Supplemental Application.
