Describe your job and how it fits into the overall big picture of serving the patient. I am a biologist working on understanding epigenetics in the pathogenesis and treatment of human disease. Epigenetic regulation is one key layer in controlling gene transcription, DNA replication, and damage repair and is a master signal in governing cell behavior and functions in human cells.
What made you want to work for NIBR? My academic research involved using Gleevec, which opened my eyes to NIBR’s drug discovery achievements. I knew that I wanted to work for NIBR.
What makes you proud to be a part of the NIBR team? Novartis’ pipeline is based on patient needs instead of market potential.
Please describe a ‘typical’ day in your job. I start the day by browsing articles in selected scientific journals and reading biopharma industry news. I then have 1-on-1 research discussions with scientists in the lab and initiate the day’s bench work. At noon, I connect with colleagues over lunch. In the afternoon, I finish the day’s bench work, attend project meetings, and respond to emails.
