Making use of the latest technological advancements, and tapping the talent of young scientists in training, the Friedrich Miescher Institute for Biomedical Research (FMI), is devoted to fundamental biomedical research.
Since its founding in 1970, the FMI has made major advances in understanding the molecular and cellular basis of disease. Its research focuses on epigenetics, mechanisms of cancer, and neurobiology. The FMI has attained internationally recognition for its scientific research and as an excellent training ground for both PhD students and postdoctoral fellows.
The institute is an affiliated Institute of the University of Basel and affiliated with the Novartis Institutes for BioMedical Research.
